Katie Anskat is a dedicated and experienced high school math teacher with 17 years of service in the Bronx and Queens. Currently a UFT Delegate, Katie is known for her unwavering advocacy for both students and educators. Her focus is on creating a school environment where teaching and learning thrive, grounded in transparency and accountability.

Katie recently served on the NYC Solves DOE/UFT Committee, contributing to the alignment of the Illustrative Math curriculum with New York State standards. She champions educational resources that truly support both teachers and students, rejecting ineffective scripted lessons in favor of practical, adaptable solutions.

Her leadership extends well beyond the classroom. Katie has held influential roles on the School Leadership Team, the Measures of Student Learning Committee, the Professional Development Committee, and the Instructional Leadership Team. She has led professional development initiatives, developed a personal finance course to equip students with real-world skills, and collaborated with colleagues to prepare students for success beyond high school.

With a strong background in business administration and economics, Katie brings analytical expertise to her advocacy work. Her experience uniquely positions her to approach financial decisions with a balance of strategic insight and an understanding of educator needs.

Katie is running for UFT Treasurer as part of A Better Contract UFT because she believes that the union’s financial decisions must reflect the priorities of its members. She is committed to promoting transparency, ensuring member involvement in financial decisions, and advocating for resources that truly meet the needs of both educators and students. As Treasurer, Katie will analyze financial data with a clear focus on accountability, working to make UFT’s finances more transparent and ensuring that union dues are used to strengthen collective bargaining power and improve working conditions.
